Crimson Desert waves hello to its sibling Black Desert

Pearl Abyss drops their gameplay trailer to Crimson Desert, their new ARPG:

Crimson Desert oozes the old Dogma back in the PS3 era after watching its trailer. At first glance, it looks like a straight up fantasy medieval ARPG. But when they showed the character picking up cats, petting dogs, and taming horses, I thought that was cute. The open-world game aspect is interesting. I mean, pole jumping inside a fort is another way to go. It’s a big leap instead of finding the key or jumping on barrels hoping to go over the walls. But I’ve noticed that the game dons vibrant colors rather than the usual ARPG brown or grayish filter. This is a good direction away from a stale idea.

The game is set on the land of Pywel. Players will assume the role of a mercenary. There are no further details yet on what the story is about or if Crimson Desert is connected to Black Desert. The prominent features of Black Desert was its excellent character creation. However, I’m not sure how that will play out on Crimson Desert. Instead we’ll expect some action / survival mechanics in Crimson Desert. I do think Crimson Desert is too colorful to be a Souls game (and has its own right to be different). But I hope we expect some memorable characters in the game. The game will be single-player and its release date is also to be announced.
