Silent Hill 2 Remake is a success
Konami reported that the Silent Hill 2 Remake sold 2 million copies from physical and digital sales. They certainly followed through that announcement from 2022. The numbers will still increase as Silent Hill 2 Remake was released in October 7, 2024.
Two of those sales were from me after I bought a PS5 and a Steam copy. But despite buying it twice, I didn’t bother with the deluxe or pre-order bonuses. Frankly, the standard edition is enough.
Focusing toward the future
Silent Hills?
What if Konami reconsiders Silent Hills?
Akira Yamaoka comments that it’s a shame Silent Hills was cancelled. The Silent Hills demo (PT) shaped up as a great game. The horror and the puzzle elements of PT were impressive such that Silent Hills was becoming sort of a new IP.

Sadly, Konami cancelled Silent Hills along with PT. Then People sold PS4 units with PT. Specifically PT was a true survival-slash-psychological-slash-creepy-horror game. Yet even though PT was scary, you play an avatar of Norman Reedus who poses an equally strong survivor archetype to combat the psyche of Silent Hills.
Silent Hills remains a potential sequel story if not a new game branching away from Silent Hill. The problem could be mainly who currently owns the name Silent Hills: Kojima Productions vs. Konami. As this concept leaves wiggle room if the game needs to evolve. After all a first-person Silent Hill have existed in Silent Hill 4. Plus it’s a cool idea – a plurality of Silent Hill.
Konami and Bloober likely choosing Silent Hill 3 next
Rumors are spinning for more Silent Hill remakes developed by Bloober. And these rumors make sense after making at least 2 millions sales from the remade Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 3 seems to be the next remake which would be a fine choice.
When Heather (Cheryl) Mason was added to Dead by Daylight, the multiplayer survival game caught the attention of more players. It’s a revamped model of Cheryl alongside Pyramid Head after all. And this was in 2020. It gave off hype, momentum, and discussion about a possible Silent Hill 3 game. Not to mention that Silent Hill 3 for PC is currently abandonware.

But look at the Heather Mason models! The original model from 2003 still holds up today! The DBD character gets my nod but I think it looks like a pseudo cosplay Heather. Though I love both of their natural and pale look, I still prefer the amazing OG model. Hands down. Heather/Cheryl looks like your ordinary troubled shy teenager yet will do the right thing despite her struggle, and protect her family and the innocent. I loved that she wanted to confront her problem in Silent Hill by herself without involving other people (i.e. warning detective Douglas Cartland that he could get hurt).
The narrative for Silent Hill 3 is also strong. Not as strong as Silent Hill 2, but SH3 is tied with the conclusion of the first Silent Hill. Then players realized the heroics of Harry Mason.
The bottom line is the SH2 remake is a success. And Silent Hill 3 is a great candidate for a remake with a memorable character in Heather.
Silent Hill 3 remake will add hype to Silent Hill 1 remake

Of course when (not if) Konami reintroduces Heather Mason, they will also reintroduce Harry Mason. Harry also appears in Silent Hill 3. Harry and Heather are father and daughter with Harry being the protagonist of Silent Hill 1. And anyone who wishes to try the game afresh without looking to the retro predecessors will certainly look for more than a rumored Silent Hill 3 remake.
Silent Hill 3 played more with a linear story progression rather than exploration unlike 1 and 2. Harry searches for his missing daughter in the town of Silent Hill. James looks for his supposed departed wife in Silent Hill. So both 1 and 2 were about exploring Silent Hill. However Heather’s story in Silent Hill 3 is different where she wakes up from a strange dream in a mall and decides to go home.
Since we’ve just explored the town of Silent Hill, it’s safe to offer something different on a supposed SH3 remake. Which adds hype for the a Silent Hill 1 remake afterward.
A single Silent Hill 2 Remake would be a lonely title
A lone Silent Hill 2 remake by itself feels lacking. To be precise, Bloober remade a videogame sequel by itself. An oxymoron. It would be a missed opportunity to stagnate their recent feat, Konami. Now a market exists for those who have played Silent Hill 2 remake as their first Silent Hill game. Plus the market to those who are eager to see a Silent Hill 3 remake with today’s hardware and technology. Thus remaking the next primary Silent Hill titles would be a good move after a great reception.
Finally! A new Silent Hill entry with Silent Hill f
Silent Hill f is a new chapter to the series.
Strange apparitions haunt a young high school girl named Hinako in 1960s Japan. As a mysterious fog envelopes their rural town, the young girl finds herself fighting for survival against these monsters. Hoping to find for answers in the fog, it’s also a place that feels familiar.
Akira Yamaoka, the genius behind Silent Hill ambiance, and music will be composing its music. And the story is written by When They Cry author Ryukishi07. The mesh between this new story and Silent Hill’s theme will work as Silent Hill evokes elements of the inner circle vs. outer circle, and fighting the ghosts of the past — ergo When They Cry’s themes. Not to mention the horror too.
It has been more than a decade since the last mainline Silent Hill game. The most recent with Silent Hill: Downpour. Moreover, it’s difficult to find a copy of Silent Hill: Downpour. It’s safe to say that there should be another mainline Silent Hill story.
Silent Hill f’s release date is still TBD.

Conclusion: I am excited.
Man, I can’t wait. I am sad that this is probably going to take a couple of more years. But I eagerly want to play a remade Silent Hill. Oh yes, without a doubt. But I love Silent Hill 3. It also has an outstanding story as it displayed the bond between father and daughter. We get to see more or realize who Harry is. And also get to imagine what life would have been for Cheryl. Gasp! Perhaps there will be more endings? Anyway, I just want to see a Silent Hill 3 game again.
No Comment! Be the first one.
