New Elder Scrolls game but not THAT sequel

Elder Scrolls: Castles is now available on select countries (including Canada) and will release globally on September 10. Castles is another Elder Scrolls mobile game with a twist of Fallout Shelter. Your main goal in Castles is to build your dynasty and your castle while keeping the stability in your kingdom.

Your subjects age one year per real-time day. Thus you have to ensure naming heirs to your throne to maintain the population. Adulthood start at 16 years where they can work on the kitchen, the oil press, the mill, and etcetera. Your kingdom runs on food and oil, while the gold economy runs on fulfilling orders, rulings, and quests. You’ll also produce materials such as wood, burlap, and ingots for trading or building.

Unlike Fallout Shelter, your Castle scales upwards. You can build rooms and stairs, place decors, and install facilities within the spaces created. It is possible that no two castles can look the same. You can equip items and outfits to your subjects and have them go through quests which prompts enemy encounters.

Overall, I think the new Elder Scrolls: Castles is a fine addition

It’s not Elder Scrolls 6 and I was hoping there was the ES6 announcement along with it. Similar to how Fallout Shelter was introduced after Fallout 4. Although this game makes me optimistic as it hints a building gameplay which may be present on Elder Scrolls 6. The trajectory for Fallout Shelter and Fallout 4 were the same on building settlements and building shelters. Some players were think this building aspect took away the RPG elements, others thought it has prolonged the game’s longevity. As for myself, I would love to be able to build a quaint hamlet or a castle in Elder Scrolls 6.

Elder Scrolls: Castles is a fun game. Graphic-wise it looks different to the Elder Scrolls meta, but this mobile solid single-player feels solid. In-app purchases are present but totally optional. And earning free premium items feel similar to Fallout Shelter. Castles is available on the Google Playstore and the App Store.
