It’s Pokémon Day today!
And also we get the first look to Pokémon Winds and Waves.
Nintendo drops a teaser to Pokémon Winds and Waves with an announcement for a 2027 release and a Switch 2 exclusive.
The teaser reveals two Pikachu dapped in fancy clothing which may play respective parts for each Winds and Waves title. Next we see and hear the ocean waves, while hearing winds blow in the background. Then it reveals Winds and Waves (Gen-10) starters.
The teaser also showcased many biomes: beach, islands, undersea, volcanic, jungles, tropical biomes associated to Southeast Asian archipelagos.

And also prompting the meme about the game having too much water.
We may get to play and explore under the sea. But I also noticed seeing many Wailords. Finally, we hear a crashing sound of waves and thunder at the end of the teaser. Which is perhaps the next legendary Pokémon.
What haven’t been revealed are more pressing points such as coop multiplayer, whether battles will be turn-based, or real-time such as in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. And most importantly, if it will have survival and building gameplay.
Honestly the graphics look like an improved Pokémon Switch one game. And if you watch the Scarlet and Violet trailer now, the graphics look utterly dated and janky.
Let me remark that there’s a five year gap between S/V and WW. And that’s a long gap. Sword and Shield was released in 2019, but Scarlet and Violet was released in 2022.
I’m just glad that this is a Switch 2 exclusive.
