I almost lost 10k Lego points because I misread a date!

I buy Lego and collect Lego Insider points. Lego sent two emails that my points were expiring on December 11. If you didn’t know, Lego Insiders points will expire after 18 months of account inactivity. But the timer resets after redeeming your points or buying something from the Lego store.

I thought cool, no big deal, since I buy toy presents for the kids in December. Sometime later, Lego sent me another email that my points were expiring in a month. November 7, I passed by the mall to look around and maybe plan for what to get for presents. I bought the Lego Lifeguard truck through sheer impulse.

I re-read the emails again a few days afterward to make sure that I’m not missing anything. But then I realized that my points were expiring on November 12! NOT December 12! That is their date format was 12/11/2025. They sent me an email on October 13 that my points were expiring in one month! I would have lost $103 worth of Lego points if not for the impulse purchase I made on November 7. I almost fell victim to what is the ideal date (format).
